A walk through museums and the countryside in Tesis

A walk through the heart of the Magredi to explore the area around Tesis di Vivaro, the ancient irrigation channel and the lost settlements, accompanied by the Cellina Meduna Archaeological Group.

Meeting point: 5.00 pm at Corte Galetto, Via Mazzini 8 – Tesis

Length: approximately 6.5 km

Participation is free of charge.

This will be followed by an aperitif at the festival, offered by the Albergo Diffuso Magredi in Vivaro.

Event in the villages: Spilimbergo, a village of art and water
Guided tour of Spilimbergo, a charming village where art, history and water intertwine amongst ancient mansions and picturesque views. The tour starts from Palazzo di Sopra, elegant historic residence which is usually not open to the public, where it will be possible to visit the interiors and learn about the history of the residence and of the families who have lived there. The tour continues outdoors, between the Italian-style garden and the panoramic viewpoint, which offers stunning views of the village and its irrigation channels. And it is precisely by following these paths that the route continues, until it reaches the Mulino di Mezzo, a historic testament to the local manufacturing tradition. Mystery in the Castle. On the trail of Dr Mallowan
Saturday 12 September at 4.00 pm a treasure hunt amongst the ruins of Montereale Valcellina Castle and the museum’s galleries. Participants will have to observe, gather clues and solve a murder… before the truth is buried by history! The route includes a few sections that go uphill, therefore it is recommended that you wear suitable clothing and footwear. Silvia Zenari. The memory of herbariums
From 5 September to 31 January 2027 the Museum Civic of History and Natural History is hosting a new exhibition which explores the theme which remains highly relevant to the role of women in science and the great value of herbariums containing dried plants for understanding biodiversity and nature, between the past and the present. Countries Open
Sunday 6 September sees the return of Paesi Aperti, the festival dedicated to exploring the Val Colvera. The event involves Frisanco, Poffabro, Casasola, Borgo Fornasatte and other villages in the valley. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to get to know the area through traditions, culture and music. One of the highlights of the day will, of course, be food. Visitors will be able to sample some of the traditional local specialities on a culinary tour taking them from one hamlet to another: pitina, radicchio with guanciale, cheeses and cured meats, polenta, mushrooms, studel and apple fritters are just some of the specialities on offer. The Middle Ages in Valvasone
From 3 to 6 September the village of Valvasone becomes the setting for a journey back to the Middle Ages, where the past continues to interact with the present, amidst ancient walls, encampments, performances, duels and traditional crafts. The theme for the 2026 edition is the “Orcolat”, the earthquake that left an indelible mark on the memory of Friuli, transforming it into a narrative that weaves together history, identity and rebirth.
